Spikes and Duos

So many new shapes of beads are available, makes beadwork even more fun!

When I saw these spike beads I knew I wanted to try and make a cuff bracelet that incorporates them at the ends.  I teamed them up with Super Duo beads to create end-caps and used them on metallic Eco Nappa Leather.

My Creative Space – 26.Jul.2012

Loads of stuff on my desk today …

First off, a leather bracelet with a Sterling Silver double heart.  I punched holes along the lengths and threaded lilac and pink Toho thread then attached a magnetic clasp.

I finished off four bracelets I started earlier this week.

and I started work on this beadwoven bail to hang a Swarovski Helios pendant for a choker.

Creative Space

On my desk this week …

… another addition to my collection of hand knotted bracelets, this one featuring Swarovski crystals in white opal with metallic leather.  I’m also making a coordinating necklace with a Swarovski Square crystal with a beadworked bail.

Also a pair of wire wrapped earrings using some really gorgeous Czech firepolished beads I bought recently:

My Creative Space …

I have some new supplies in antiqued copper and brass that I’ve been playing with, including some lovely filigree flowers and heart lockets.

I’ve made my first necklace with one of the filigree flowers, for which I worked a Swarovski rivoli for its centre.  I have half a dozen flowers in different colours so I matched the crystals to the colour of the flower.

I’ve also been busy taking new photos of some of my existing work and the new packaging.

My Creative Space …

I have a bracelet that needs working on, similar to the necklace shown in the background.  Teeny tiny silver lined cylinder beads, each measuring just approx 1mm in length, will be used.  Unfortunately not all the beads are evenly sized, so I need to check each one as I pick it up.

This isn’t work to be done in a hurry, and frequent eye rests are a must, but I know it’ll be worth it when I see it finished! :)

I WON!!!

Last week I entered Beadaholique’s Contest to Win A Lifetime Artfire Pro eCommerce Store.

I love ArtFire to bits, so the chance to win a free-for-life store was brilliant!

There wasn’t enough time for me to order new supplies all the way from the US, but luckily I am already a Beadaholique customer and already had some of their supplies in hand.  I decided to make a simple design that best highlighted the materials used and sent off my entry.

I am absolutely thrilled to be one of the ten winners! :D

Thank you Beadaholique, thank you ArtFire! :)

My Creative Space – Beaded Beads

I love beaded beads!  I love the fact that what at first glance appears to be a simple bead, shows it’s true beauty on close inspection.  I nearly always wear a crystal beaded bead on leather myself, I find it goes perfectly with whatever I’m wearing, whether it’s out to dinner or even to the beach.   In fact I love it so much I put one up for a giveaway and I’m hoping that the winner will love it too! ;)

Today I’m making a more elegant version of these beads, with an inner row of light grey Swarovski pearls instead of crystals.   I recently made a bracelet as a gift, featuring one of these beads.   I’m planning on making more in this range for my shop.
